NAIDOC Week Open Day Display

PIDHS holds a collection of Bunurong/Boonwurrung stone implements and some wooden items such as boomerangs and leangles. The collection is registered with Aboriginal Affairs Victoria, and some items are on on permanent display. The Open Day for NAIDOC Week is a chance for the public to view other items from the collection which are rarely seen. These include scrapers, axe heads, grinding stones - pestles and mortars. The display will be on at the Phillip Island Museum, Phillip Island Heritage Centre, 89 Thompson Ave Cowes, from 10 a.m. until 2.00 p.m. Refreshments will be served, including bush tucker chutneys to go with biscuits. All are welcome. Please note that the items are sacred to the Bunurong/Boonwurrung community and are not to be handled by the general public.Free entry on the day.
