The draining of the Koo Wee Rup swamp

Heather Arnold hails from the Koo Wee Rup area and has had a long interest in the history of the area. At our May meeting Heather will be speaking about the draining of the Koo Wee Rup swamp in the early years of the twentieth century. This undertaking was extremely important to Phillip Island, as before the swamp was drained there was no way through to the island, and visitors and locals had to travel to Phillip Island by coach and or boat. The meeting starts at 2.30 p.m. at the Heritage Centre meeting room, 89 Thompson Ave Cowes. The speaker follows the general meeting and afternoon tea will complete proceedings.
